CISSP-Concentration — ISSEP

Recognition for Advanced Expertise in Information Security Engineering
ISSEP: Information Systems Security Engineering Professional is a new part of the ISC2 CISSP concentration cert. This concentration was developed in combination with the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) to provide tools for any systems security engineering professional. CISSP-ISSEP is the guide for incorporating security into projects, applications, business processes, and all information systems. Security professionals are hungry for workable methodologies and best practices that can be used to integrate security into all facets of business operations. The four major domains of the CBK covered by CISSP-ISSEP certification are:
- Certification and Accreditation
Base 64 Encoding
by cisspfix on Nov.21, 2009, under General
The term Base64 refers to a specific MIME content transfer encoding. It is also used as a generic term for any similar encoding scheme that encodes binary data by treating it numerically and translating it into a base 64 representation. The particular choice of base is due to the history of character set encoding: one can choose a set of 64 characters that is both part of the subset common to most encodings, and also printable. This combination leaves the data unlikely to be modified in transit through systems, such as email, which were traditionally not 8-bit clean.
Wireshark–come shallow
by cisspfix on Nov.12, 2009, under Security
Wireshark is an open source protocol analyzer that can capture traffic in real time. Wireshark is a free packet sniffer computer application. It is used for network troubleshooting, analysis, software and communications protocol development, and education. Wireshark is very similar to tcpdump, but it has a graphical front-end, and many more information sorting and filtering options. It allows the user to see all traffic being passed over the network (usually an Ethernet network but support is being added for others) by putting the network interface into promiscuous mode.
Taking to next level — CISSP Concentration
by cisspfix on Nov.06, 2009, under CISSP
How many of CISSP credential holders think that we came up here by studying vast domain on security? Atleast I am. I always think that does it really matter to companies of different field that I am CISSP certified. That make me very specific with my skills.
Fortunately, ISC2 came up with excellent answer. CISSP-CONCENTRATION. They quoted “After the original conception of the CISSP, and the continuous evolution of information security, (ISC)² discovered a need to develop credentials which address the specific needs of our members. With this in mind.” ISC2 developed CISSP Concentrations in the functional areas of:
Go Fish — Phishing
by cisspfix on Nov.05, 2009, under Security
The in-session phishing attack is a daily day hoax. This attack exploits the trust of a trusted site by intruding in mid-session in the form of a pop-up message. “Your session has timed out, please log on again” or “please reset your password” is what it might state. Since it appears to be originating from the trusted site, the victim complies, sending login credentials not to the trusted server but to the bad guys.

Lock your computer anyway..

Creating a desktop shortcut for locking your computer
If you use your computer in an area where others may have access to it, and there are things on your system you would rather have kept confidential, locking your desktop when you leave the computer is an essential task. Here’s a recipe for a desktop shortcut that will lock your computer in two easy clicks:
Right click on an empty area of the desktop and choose ‘new’ then ’shortcut.’ The create shortcut wizard will open; in the first text box, type ‘%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation’ and then give your shortcut an appropriate name on the next page, and hit ‘finish.’
Animation Re-Defined– Flash CS4
by cisspfix on Nov.03, 2009, under General
One interesting field whose face still seems pretty inspite of scary recession is ANIMATION. Plot here grows and bloom with leaps and bounds. This reminds me of Flash once again after a long hibernation. It seems pretty obvious that I tried every aspect of IT field and choose security but in the end what matters is beauty and interactivity.
So coming to Flash, I find it reincarnated by Adobe in the form of CS4 and its pretty different from the previous versions. At last I decided to do the certification for the same. What came in my mind when I think about certification is — uCertify.com.
